Phase 3 Reopening Measures - Neptune Rowing Club

General

Members are required to conduct themselves in a responsible manner while on the premises.  

Members suffering the following symptoms are NOT permitted in the club: Fever (Temperature above 37oC), Sore Throat

Cough, General Sniffles.

Please stay home you should probably not be training, but if you must, train in isolation.

Anyone found to have these symptoms are required to notify a coach or committee member and will be requested to leave the premises.

Face Coverings

·       In all areas of the premises

·       Only exception when land training

All Indoor Areas

·       Rooms in use must be ventilated to the maximum

·       Last person to leave the area must Close all doors / Windows

Gym

·       Gym open for training – Maximum numbers to be observed in each room. (Please refer to the Zone Schedule)

·       Training as individuals

·       Equipment to be cleaned between uses

Ergometers ·       All Ergs must be used either outside, in the boathouse or on the balcony (see Zone Schedule)
River

·       All crew types are permitted to take to the river

·       Groups of greater than 15 need to operate the pod system

·       Follow the timetable for training in at level 3. (to follow)

Dressing Rooms

·       Will reopen for storage only

·       Observe distancing and personal hygiene protocols

·       No congregating in the dressing rooms

Travel ·       Only residents of County Dublin should come to the club
Coxes ·       Wear face covering always in a stern coxed boat.
Schedules

·       Groups will be assigned training times and areas where appropriate

·       The schedule must be adhered to in order to keep everyone safe

Personal Hygiene

Simple hygiene measures can help protect members and everyone else’s.

 Do not spit on the Premises

 Don’t touch your face

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Don’t cough or sneeze into your hands

Cover your mouth and nose with your elbow or tissue when coughing or sneezing. Dispose of used tissue immediately.

Keep your distance

Maintain a distance of at least 2 meters (6 feet) from people who are coughing or sneezing.

Wash, wash, wash your hands

Yes, you’re hearing it everywhere, because it’s the best line of defence. Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20-30 seconds.

Make sure to wash hands immediately after exercise,  you blow your nose, sneeze into a tissue, use the restroom, when you leave and return to your home, before preparing or eating food, applying make-up, handling contact lenses etc.

If using a hand sanitizer ensure that it contains at least 60 per cent alcohol, ensure coverage on all parts of the hands and rub hands together for 20-30 seconds until hands feel dry. If hands are visibly dirty, always wash hands with soap and water.

Did you know? Cold water and warm water are equally effective at killing germs and viruses — as long as you use soap and wash your hands the right way!

 

Cleaning equipment and around the club

Cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces on the equipment and in your club regularly is an important precaution to lower the risk of infection. Follow cleaning product instructions for safe and effective use, including precautions you should take when applying the product, such as wearing gloves and making sure you have good ventilation.

 

·       Toilets MUST be cleaned BY THE USER after use.

 

The club will provide some recommended cleaning products for personal use and cleaning of equipment.   However, it is in your own interest to use the product that you feel best suits the purpose.

High-touch surfaces to clean and disinfect

 

Every part of the club is different, but common high-touch surfaces include: Door handles, tables, chairs, handrails and bathroom surfaces, taps, toilets, light switches, mobile phones, computers, tablets, keyboards, remote controls, game controllers and favourite toys.

In Boats the important areas are the surfaces that you touch the most; Gunwales, Deck, Oarlocks, shoes; wingnuts and fasteners; bow and stern extremities. 

Equally important are areas that may be exposed to droplets from the mouth or nose; Stern deck; Shoes; riggers and exposed parts of the internal hull. 

“Wow!” you might say. “This is practically the entire boat.”   Well…. yes it is.

 

What to use to clean and disinfect

 

If a surface is dirty, first clean it with soap and water. Then use a disinfectant product containing alcohol (of around 70 per cent) or bleach. Vinegar and other natural products are not recommended.

 

How to disinfect

 

It’s important not to wipe cleaning solutions off as soon as you’ve applied it to a surface. Many disinfectant products, such as wipes and sprays, need to stay wet on a surface for several minutes in order to be effective. Always read the directions to make sure you’re using the products as recommended and to avoid damaging sensitive items such as mobile phones and other electronic devices. Consider using wipeable covers for electronics

Cleaning your boat before and after use:

 

1.       Rinse the cloth or sponge that you intend to use in soapy water

2.       Start cleaning the cleanest part first (likely the bow section) with fresh soapy water.

3.       Work toward the centre of the boat skipping over to the stern.

4.       Rinse the cloth or sponge once more

5.       Moving to the seating area; remove the Sliding Seat from the runners

6.       With Soapy Water clean the deck and the rails

7.       Separately, clean the seat including the wheels and the undercarriage

8.       Rinse the seating area and ensure all residue is removed.

9.       Moving to the footwell. 

10.   With Soapy Water clean the footwell thoroughly. 

11.   Separately, clean the shoes, footplate, shoe fasteners and heel pull.  Also clean the thumbscrews that hold the footplate to the boat. 

12.   Moving to the riggers, Clean the struts and the Oarlocks (Gates). 

13.   Finally, rinse the cloth or sponge that you have used and leave it for the next person to use.  

14.   Apply a tag to indicate that the equipment has been cleaned

 

              Now WASH YOUR HANDS

 

Cleaning your Oars before and after use

1.       Use a clean rinsed the cloth or sponge add soap.

2.       Clean from the button of the oar back towards the handle

3.       Wipe well the rubber grips of the oars

4.       Rinse all residue from the oar

5.       Clean the second oar in the same way. 

6.       Now rinse the cloths thoroughly for the next use

7.       Apply a tag to indicate that the equipment has been cleaned

 

Finally, WASH YOUR HANDS

Doing laundry at home

 

·       Clean your kit regularly.

·       Do not shake dirty kit to minimize the possibility of dispersing the virus through the air.

·       Launder your kit with soap or detergent, using the warmest appropriate water setting and dry items completely — both steps help to kill the virus.

·       Wash your hands with soap and water, or use an alcohol-based hand rub, immediately afterwards.

·       Wash or disinfect your kit bag as well.

So What Does 20Km Look Like?

This is a representation of the 20KM radius within which travel is restricted in Phase 1.   Although the club will not turn members away you are asked to respect the restriction.   Remember that you are putting lives at risk if you ignore the restrictions.
